Mushrooms and mycelium
The mushroom we see is only the small part above ground. The real body is the mycelium underneath: a web of fine threads with no centre and no one giving orders, growing with its surroundings and connecting as it goes, until it reaches across a whole forest.
Mycelium takes nourishment from the soil and passes it on to the trees and other life around it, so the whole forest thrives.
There is a music project too: a band called My Mycelium Sibling that shares the same spirit.
Travel and different cultures
I once took my friend Colleen travelling in China. After seeing everyday life there and spending time with local people, her view of China changed, and she let go of some of the assumptions she had before. It showed me that meeting people in person can open a door.
Over the years I’ve spent time with, and studied, different cultures and faiths, and I appreciate what makes each of them its own.
“Go back to humanity”
An idea inspired by Alan Wilcox
It is where my community project, the Mycelium Siblings Society, began.

I live and work alongside a whole crew of AI helpers, about thirty of them. Some days it feels like tending a tiny forest of helpers.
